Filmmaker Accuses Prosenjit of Script Plagiarism

Filmmaker Suman Ghosh has publicly accused the producers of 'Abhhiman,' a film starring Prosenjit Chatterjee, of plagiarizing his unmade project. Ghosh detailed his original concept, which centered on a celebrated superstar's decline into an aging man grappling with memory loss. He noted striking similarities after viewing the film's promotional material.

Ghosh stated that Prosenjit Chatterjee had been involved in discussions about his project for approximately two and a half years, with Chatterjee envisioned for the lead role. Although Ghosh has not seen the complete screenplay of 'Abhhiman,' he expressed concern over perceived parallels in the central character's arc and emotional journey. He also mentioned attempting to contact Chatterjee regarding his disappointment.

The producers of 'Abhhiman' responded to these allegations, asserting the film's script is entirely original. They stated the core idea originated with Jisshu U Sengupta, and the screenplay was independently developed by Srijato Bandopadhyay and director Indraadip Daas Gupta. The production team affirmed their commitment to the authenticity of their script, supported by industry and legal records.

Prosenjit Chatterjee conveyed his respect for Suman Ghosh as a filmmaker. He acknowledged that creative lines can sometimes blur due to shared human emotions but stressed that 'Abhhiman' is a completely independent and legally registered project. Ghosh has indicated no intention of pursuing legal action, framing the issue as a matter of creative trust and industry ethics.
