Filming for 'Padayaatra', directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and starring Mammootty, has officially concluded. This movie signifies the highly anticipated reunion of the celebrated actor and director after a hiatus of 32 years.
Principal photography commenced earlier this year. Mammootty portrays Dr. Devadas, a physician inspired by Gandhian ideals, who transitions from urban practice to serve a tribal area and its marginalized communities.
The narrative of 'Padayaatra' is set against the backdrop of Adivasi life, aiming to explore themes of exploitation and resistance. The film also features Indrans as Dr. Devadas's assistant, alongside Grace Antony and Sreeshma Chandran in supporting roles.
Co-written by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and K. V. Mohan Kumar, the screenplay seeks to reflect contemporary social realities. The film's production is under the Mammootty Kampany banner, headed by Mammootty himself.
