The Karnataka State Commission for Women has expressed serious concerns regarding the song 'Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse' from the upcoming film KD: The Devil. The commission has formally requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to take strict action against the song before issuing a film certification, citing alleged obscenity and derogatory portrayals of women.
Multiple public complaints have been lodged with the commission, highlighting that the song's lyrics and visuals are offensive to women's dignity and contravene existing film certification guidelines. The commission emphasized that content denigrating women is subject to censorship.
Furthermore, the commission has urged the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to regulate the use of vulgar language in films. It pointed out that songs like this one have prompted public backlash and could reinforce harmful stereotypes.
The controversy has drawn significant attention, with political figures like actor Kangana Ranaut criticizing the song. An advocate has also filed a complaint with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting alleging sexually suggestive and obscene content in the song.
The commission cautioned that such provocative content could contribute to harassment and eve-teasing, disproportionately affecting women and girls. It called for immediate measures to discourage such content and promote socially responsible filmmaking.
