A forthcoming film, "The Friends of My Parents," is set to explore the sensitive topic of desire in old age. This intimate, autobiographical comedy, penned by Romina Tamburello, is inspired by her parents' experiences as swingers following their cancer diagnoses.
The narrative centers on Cecilia, who, while navigating her own quiet separation, is enlisted by her parents to help them find reliable swinger clubs. In doing so, she discovers a diverse world of sexualities and unexpected friendships, contrasting sharply with her own emotional turmoil.
Starring Camila Peralta, Alejandra Flechner, and Luis Ziembrowski, the film aims to challenge societal views on aging bodies, presenting them as living, erotic, and complex entities. Producer Santiago King highlighted the film's potential for international appeal, noting its blend of autobiographical depth and a fresh, modern viewpoint.
The project, which adapts Tamburello's 2024 novel, has received development awards and is currently in a rewriting process. It follows Tamburello's previous film, "Vera and the Pleasure of Others," which also explored themes of sexual discovery.
