Fieldy Explains Korn Hiatus: 'COVID Happened'
23 Apr
Summary
- Fieldy cited COVID-19 pandemic as reason for leaving Korn.
- He hasn't spoken to bandmates since 2019.
- Fieldy stated he is 'retired from Korn today'.

Former Korn bassist Fieldy has clarified his 2021 departure from the band, attributing it directly to the COVID-19 pandemic. He explained that the initial uncertainty and his personal stance on vaccination led him to decide against touring, stating, 'COVID happened. That's it. I'm like, 'I'm not going out there.'
This time away allowed Fieldy to reflect on his nearly 30 years with Korn, describing the experience as a "blast" and expressing contentment with his legacy. He clarified that he is "retired from Korn today" but added, "we'll see what the day brings tomorrow." Fieldy also mentioned working on a new project with Greyson Nekrutman and Christian Olde Wolbers.
Prior to this, the reasons for Fieldy's exit remained ambiguous. Korn guitarist Munky had previously stated in June 2022 that Fieldy "needed a little time at home" and was not ready to return to touring after the pandemic. Fieldy himself later clarified that his "bad habits" were not drug-related and expressed his continued love and respect for his Korn bandmates, despite their current different paths.
