FFC Bulgaria, an initiative of First Draft Productions, IFFG, and the Female Film Club, has established a significant €50,000 prize for filmmakers. The competition, which accepts short and feature-length projects of any genre, requires a Bulgarian co-producer and a commitment to utilizing facilities at Nu Boyana Studios in Sofia. Eligibility is limited to first-time members of FFC Bulgaria.
The international jury, announced at a recent event in Berlin, comprises prominent figures such as Sara Putt, chair of BAFTA; Jacqueline Wagenstein, director of Cinelibri Intl. Film Festival; Vanessa Hanneman of Henneman Agency; Nina Blagoeva from Alexandra Films; producers Morgan Cano Long and Mariana Conde-Grant; and writer/director Lisa Cole. Representatives from FFC Bulgaria and Film Forge will also join the jury.
Submissions are open until February 22, with the winner to be revealed on May 18, during the Cannes Film Festival. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in access to professional resources for filmmakers, especially those outside major markets, and foster diverse storytelling.
