Felicity Huffman's Character Shakes Up Amy's Life on 'Doc'

On the hit medical drama 'Doc', the recent introduction of Felicity Huffman's character Joan has had a significant impact on the show's protagonist, Amy, played by Molly Parker. In the second episode of the current season, which aired on September 30th, 2025, viewers learned that Joan was Amy's former mentor, and her influence on Amy's life has been a source of mixed reactions from those around her.

Amy's loved ones have hinted that they did not approve of how Joan encouraged Amy to be so devoted to her career, but it wasn't until the end of the episode that the full extent of Joan's impact was revealed. Amy experienced flashes of a memory, and the final scene showed her at a dinner with Joan years earlier, where Joan had advised her to end her marriage with her husband, Michael, played by Omar Metwally.

This revelation has left Amy incredibly unsettled, as she now questions whether she can trust Joan and is determined to recover her lost memories to understand the context of their past conversation. Molly Parker, who portrays Amy, has teased that this new information will "motivate" Amy to "do everything she can to recover her memories," even if it means pursuing potentially unhealthy treatments.

The show's creator has stated that the story is inspired by a true event, and the audience is left to wonder how this twist will impact Amy's journey as she continues to rebuild her life and career after a traumatic brain injury.
