Marvel Chief: "Gigantic Loser" Over Failed Blade Movie

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has admitted to feeling like a "gigantic loser and failure" regarding the unsuccessful development of the Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali. The project, intended to revive the iconic vampire hunter for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, faced significant hurdles throughout its years-long production. Bassam Tariq initially directed but exited in 2022, leading to a period of constant script revisions and personnel changes. The film was officially removed from Marvel's production slate in 2024, marking a major disappointment for fans anticipating Ali's portrayal. Ali himself had expressed his eagerness to begin filming as recently as last year, stating his readiness. Despite the challenges with Blade, Feige highlighted the casting of Wesley Snipes in Deadpool & Wolverine as a positive outcome. The prolonged struggles to bring Blade to the screen have overshadowed other MCU developments.
