The highly anticipated finale of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, now officially titled "Fast Forever," is undergoing a script revision. Michael Lesslie, who previously penned the "Hunger Games" prequel, has been enlisted by Universal to rewrite the script, which was initially developed by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean. Producer and star Vin Diesel shared this development via his Instagram account.
The decision to bring in Lesslie follows the production and release of "Fast X" in 2023. This installment faced directorial changes, with Louis Leterrier stepping in mid-production after Justin Lin's departure. "Fast X" was conceived as the initial segment of a two-part conclusion to the saga and notably concluded with a cliffhanger, leaving fans eager for resolution.
Fans now have a confirmed return date for the franchise's final chapter. Universal has scheduled "Fast Forever" for release on Friday, March 17, 2028. This date marks the expected culmination of the "Fast and Furious" cinematic journey.
