Michael Fassbender is in negotiations to join director Brady Corbet's next feature film, speculated to be titled 'The Origin of the World.' This upcoming project is Corbet's follow-up to his critically lauded 2024 film, 'The Brutalist.'
While details remain scarce, Corbet has described the film as an X-rated production primarily set in the 1970s, though its narrative scope extends from the 19th century through to the present day. Reports suggest the film will employ rare eight-perf 65mm cameras for its production.
Selena Gomez has also been rumored to be attached to the project. Fassbender, a decorated actor with multiple Oscar and BAFTA nominations, is currently promoting his film 'Hope' at Cannes. He recently appeared in 'Black Bag' and 'Kneecap,' alongside the Paramount+ series 'The Agency: Central Intelligence.'
This would mark Corbet's fourth directorial effort, following 'The Childhood of a Leader,' 'Vox Lux,' and 'The Brutalist.' He also produced 'The Testament of Ann Lee,' directed by Mona Fastvold.
