"What's the difference?" the 78-year-old designer asked in an interview published on October 16, 2025. "I don't understand. But it doesn't change anything. I'm sorry -- it's a stupid question."
Diane, who has been romantically involved with her husband Barry since the late 1970s, also acknowledged her previous three-year marriage to Prince Egon von Fürstenberg, who had opened up about his bisexuality after their separation in 1972.
"I married two gay men, OK?" Diane continued. "I don't know why, but to me, they're not gay, so it doesn't make any difference."
Despite the revelations, Diane does not see standing by her husband as "supporting him" through something. Instead, she maintains that their relationship remains unchanged, reflecting her unconventional and accepting approach to love and sexuality.
