Farhan Akhtar has been cast as the legendary music maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar in an upcoming Hollywood film series.
Akhtar will embody Shankar, whose mentorship of The Beatles' George Harrison was pivotal in introducing Indian classical music to the West. This cross-cultural exchange significantly influenced The Beatles' sound in the late 1960s.
The project consists of four interconnected biopics, each narrated from the viewpoint of a different Beatles member. The ensemble cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
This marks Akhtar's most significant international screen role, following a cameo in Marvel's 'Ms. Marvel'. The film series is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical debut in April 2028.
