Actress Alexandra Breckenridge recently shared her reaction to a surprising cameo on the animated series Family Guy, which referenced her popular show, Virgin River. Breckenridge expressed astonishment that she had not been forewarned about the joke, even by a producer friend. She noted that the reference, which included an image of her character Mel Monroe and Martin Henderson's Jack Sheridan, was a humorous acknowledgment of their show's iconic status.
This pop culture nod comes as Virgin River fans grapple with the cliffhanger ending of season 7, released earlier this month. The season finale saw the newborn Mel and Jack intended to adopt undergoing emergency heart surgery. Breckenridge offered a glimpse into season 8, assuring fans that the baby would likely remain with the couple, though she anticipates a challenging journey ahead as they navigate new parenthood while balancing their relationship and work.
Given her character's past struggles with miscarriage and stillbirth, Breckenridge acknowledged the emotional toll of this storyline. She hopes for a positive resolution in the upcoming season, recognizing the profound impact this experience will have on Mel. The actress anticipates that Mel and Jack will continue to support each other as they establish their life on the farm.
