On October 1, 2025, Bethesda Game Studios announced plans to release a major new downloadable content (DLC) for the "Fallout 76" video game in December 2025. Titled "Burning Springs," the update will be the game's 64th major DLC and its largest addition since 2020.
The "Burning Springs" DLC will introduce a new region in post-nuclear Ohio and feature the character of The Ghoul, voiced by Walton Goggins and originally introduced in Amazon's "Fallout" TV series. Players will be able to interact with The Ghoul, who will host new bounty hunting missions throughout the game's expanded world.
The integration of the TV series character into the "Fallout 76" game is part of Bethesda's efforts to maintain a "consistent cadence" of new "Fallout" content across both the video game and television adaptations. The developers aim to ensure that the stories, characters, and overall tone of the franchise remain cohesive between the two mediums.
Bethesda has hinted that this may not be the last time they incorporate elements from the Amazon "Fallout" series into the ongoing "Fallout 76" experience. The game's creative director, Jon Rush, stated that the studio is full of "creative folks" who are exploring various ways to expand the game with potential future tie-ins to the TV show.
