Summary
- Annual festival offers enchantment beyond screens.
- Actors Guild event stimulates children's imaginations.
- Affordable family fun fosters appreciation for theater.
The Actors Guild of Schuylkill County recently presented its fifth annual Enchanted Fairy and Pirate Festival at the Kelsey Theater. This event provided local families with an immersive experience, featuring guild members in elaborate costumes portraying whimsical characters. The festival aimed to stimulate children's imaginations and offer an alternative to screen-focused entertainment.
A custom-written story, "The Baffling Burglary of the Queens' Royal Butterflies," formed the centerpiece of the theatrical offerings. Constructed on stage, a castle set enhanced the narrative. The festival, a fundraiser for the all-volunteer organization, maintained a low ticket price of $5 to ensure accessibility for families.
Activities included games, a scavenger hunt, music, and interactive characters, all designed to create a sense of awe and engage children with live storytelling. The guild hopes to inspire young attendees to develop an interest in theater and potentially join their productions, nurturing artistic expression within the community.
