Summary
- Archbishop McElroy removed Monsignor Rossetti as exorcist.
- Rossetti suggested UFO sightings might be demonic.
- The archdiocese cut ties with Rossetti's St. Michael Center.

Cardinal Robert McElroy, the Catholic archbishop of Washington, D.C., has removed Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, a noted priest and exorcist, from his archdiocesan role. The decision, made on Wednesday, also involves severing ties with the St. Michael Center for Spiritual Renewal, a nonprofit led by Rossetti.
Archbishop McElroy stated that Rossetti's public remarks, which linked UFO sightings to demonic presence, and the center's social media engagement, contradict precise Church teachings on the devil, demons, and exorcism. Rossetti had expressed in a recent video his personal belief that many UFO sightings could be demons.
Rossetti, who is also a psychologist with a large social media following, has led the St. Michael Center in providing spiritual healing for troubled priests. He expressed sadness over the archdiocese's decision and pledged obedience to Church teachings, particularly regarding his views on aliens and the demonic.
