In July 2025, the beloved electronic music trio Above & Beyond released their first entirely electronic studio album in seven years, "Bigger Than All of Us." The album, which was released on the group's longstanding Anjunadeep label, came just months after they played a massive set on Coachella's Outdoor Stage and launched a North American amphitheater tour.
Now, a new documentary titled "Stepping In: The Making of 'Bigger Than All Of Us'" is providing an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creation of this highly anticipated project. The documentary, which will be released on the Above & Beyond and Billboard YouTube pages on November 7th, 2025, shares incredible archival footage of the group in its early years, as well as footage capturing the trio's meticulous approach in the studio.
In the documentary, the group's members - Paavo Siljamäki, Tony McGuinness, and Jono Grant - reflect on their desire to capture the "DNA of Above & Beyond" in the new album. Jono Grant explains that he wanted to recapture the "naiveté" and sense of "musical freedom" that defined their 2006 classic, "Tri-State," which was just the three of them. McGuinness adds that the new album's inspiration came from a desire to feel "unattached to what people thought we were," allowing them to authentically explore their musical identity beyond the confines of any particular genre.
The documentary also features footage of the group's frequent collaborator, Zoê Johnston, whose unmistakable voice is woven throughout the new album. The intimate behind-the-scenes look at the creative process promises to give fans a deeper appreciation for the passion and artistry that went into the making of "Bigger Than All of Us."
