Producer evilgiane, a prominent member of the Surf Gang collective, has unveiled his latest project, '#HEAVENSGATE VOL. 2.' This new tape showcases his signature shimmery beats and ethereal textures, continuing his exploration of cloud-rap utopias. The release features an eclectic cast of 25 collaborators, including high-profile artists like Rico Nasty and lesser-known talents such as Dee Aura.
The project masterfully dissolves boundaries between trap, plugg, ambient, and drill. Tracks like "HELLLLP MEEEEE !!!" offer muggy keys and brooding lyrics, while "sneaky" features North Philadelphia rapper HappyDranker's dynamic delivery. Other notable collaborations include "Go Slow" with Bootee, "straps" with LAZER DIM 700, and "GMT" with UK grime group Ammi Boyz.
Many songs on '#HEAVENSGATE VOL. 2' are notably brief, with some barely reaching two minutes. While this brevity can make some ideas feel fleeting, the tape successfully captures evilgiane's core appeal: niche samples, glowing synths, and fidgety rhythms. It stands as a testament to his eclectic taste and ability to orchestrate a diverse array of artists into a cohesive producer tape.
