- Features largest display and dual analog sticks for improved retro experience.
- Priced at $199/£169, it targets nostalgia gamers and collectors.
The Evercade Nexus, released in 2026, offers a retro gaming experience reminiscent of simpler times. This new handheld from Blaze Entertainment eschews modern gaming's complexities, like mandatory downloads and online-only access, focusing instead on physical game cartridges that players genuinely own. It boasts the largest screen in the Evercade series and introduces dual analog sticks, enhancing gameplay for 32-bit and 64-bit titles.
Retailing for $199/£169, the Nexus is designed for retro gamers and collectors. Its main appeal lies in its physical cartridge system, which includes over 80 titles from classic franchises. The device comes bundled with Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, showcasing its N64-era gaming capabilities. Battery life is a strong point, offering around 4-5 hours of playtime.
However, the Evercade Nexus has drawbacks. Its flat design lacks built-in grips, potentially causing discomfort during extended play. Crucially, it lacks a suspend feature, forcing users to either leave the device on or lose progress. The hardware also results in longer boot-up times compared to more powerful handhelds like the Nintendo Switch 2.
