Evangeline Lilly, who gained fame as Kate Austen in the television series Lost, has announced an indefinite hiatus from her acting career. In June 2024, Lilly shared her decision to step away from Hollywood, expressing a desire to focus on her personal life, including her children and humanitarian aspirations.

Lilly revealed her intention to retire from acting, a dream she had for years. She finds fulfillment in pursuing her dharma, which she described as a path replacing fear with contentment. This decision is significantly influenced by her commitment to her two children, whose lives she endeavors to keep private while sharing occasional parenting reflections online.

Currently, Lilly is concentrating on her health and recovery. In May 2025, she launched a Substack newsletter discussing her health struggles, including fainting spells and a recent concussion. A brain scan in early 2026 revealed damage from a traumatic brain injury (TBI), prompting her to work with doctors on her healing process. She also continues to engage with fans at events.
