- Four major characters, including Rue, were killed in the finale.

The acclaimed drama Euphoria has officially concluded with its season 3 finale, which saw the shocking death of its protagonist, Rue, played by Zendaya. Creator Sam Levinson confirmed this ending, stating that the series' narrative arc concerning addiction and its consequences felt complete.
Rue's demise occurred mid-episode after her boss, Alamo, deliberately gave her a fatal dose of fentanyl-laced Percocet, suspecting her of being a DEA informant. This tragic event marked the end of a nearly seven-year journey for the character and the series.
The finale also featured the deaths of three other significant characters: Alamo, the drug dealer Laurie, and G. This marked a somber conclusion to a season that had already seen the death of Nate Jacobs in a previous episode, buried alive with a venomous snake.
Levinson drew a parallel between Rue's fate and the tragic overdose death of Angus Cloud, who played Fezco. He stated that Rue's death served as a solemn tribute and a stark warning about the perils of contemporary drug use.
The series' conclusion comes after a lengthy production cycle, with season 3 airing almost four years after season 2. The final season also experienced behind-the-scenes turmoil, notably the public departure of composer Labrinth from the project.
