Estonia's first fashion history museum has opened at Keila-Joa Castle, also known as Schloss Fall. Its debut exhibition, "Red Carpet: From Ballrooms to Film Galas," explores the dynamic connection between cinema and couture.
The exhibition guides visitors through fashion's evolution, from the elegance of the Belle Époque to the timeless glamour of Hollywood's Golden Age and contemporary international film festivals. A dedicated section honors the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), marking its upcoming 30th anniversary.
Among the displayed treasures are approximately 70 dresses, complemented by jewelry, shoes, handbags, and tiaras. These include iconic pieces associated with stars like Marlene Dietrich, Gloria Swanson, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn, as well as designs by Gilbert Adrian.
This museum builds upon a decade-long collaboration between Keila-Joa Castle and the Alexandre Vassiliev Foundation, bringing a series of fashion history exhibitions to the historic estate. It offers a unique perspective on how fashion has shaped our perception of beauty and elegance across different eras.
