Throughout his distinguished career, Anastos served as an anchor at New York's major network flagship stations, including WABC/7, WCBS/2, and WNYW/5. He was notably the first Greek American news anchor in the United States.
Born in New Hampshire in 1943, Anastos began his journalism career in radio before transitioning to television. He spent 11 years at WABC-TV starting in 1978, followed by stints at WCBS-TV and WNYW. His reporting covered significant events, including the September 11 attacks and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anastos amassed over 30 Emmy Awards and nominations, along with an Edward R. Murrow Award. After leaving WNYW in 2019, he hosted a syndicated radio show focused on positive stories. He is survived by his wife, daughter, son, and four grandchildren.
