Reality television personality Erin Lichy, known from The Real Housewives of New York, has ignited controversy with her recent family planning advice. While responding to an Instagram follower's query about differing timelines for starting a family with a spouse, Lichy suggested the woman should "forget" to take her birth control pills if her partner was merely stalling. She justified this by stating humans have been doing similar things for centuries.

This suggestion quickly drew sharp criticism from followers and online users, who condemned it as reproductive coercion and horrific advice. In response to the backlash, Lichy issued a statement to The Daily Mail. She explained that her comment was meant in a "light, playful context" for a specific user's situation and was not intended as general advice. Lichy emphasized that she would never promote coercion and expressed regret if her words were misunderstood or caused offense.

Lichy, who has four children with her husband Abe, previously expressed a desire for him to get a vasectomy, indicating her family felt complete. She also faced criticism last year for a TikTok video where her infant's head appeared to dangle while she was making a martini, though she defended the video, stating the baby's head was supported.
