The music video features actors Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, with appearances also by Cara Delevingne, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, and Stoll. Swift herself acknowledged Johnson and Farrell's contributions on Instagram.

Andrews was occupied with her NFL coverage for Fox on the same day Swift received multiple awards at the VMAs, including Video of the Year for "The Fate of Ophelia" and Best Direction for "Opalite."
