Thomas Doherty Remembers Eric Dane's Lasting Impact

Thomas Doherty has spoken about the significant support he received from Eric Dane during the filming of the upcoming thriller Family Secrets, which marks one of Dane's final projects. Doherty described their time working together in Serbia as occurring "quite a difficult time" in his personal life, noting Dane's kindness and guidance. Dane, who passed away in February 2026 after being diagnosed with ALS in April 2025, reportedly offered Doherty personal dinners and conversations that were "hugely instrumental" in his current well-being.

Family Secrets stars Dane as a family patriarch, with Doherty portraying a character involved in a revenge plot. The film also features Tyriq Withers and Maia Mitchell. Dane's presence in the film contributes to its poignancy as one of his last onscreen roles. His final television appearance was a posthumous one in the third season of Euphoria, a show for which his character's storyline was adjusted following his ALS diagnosis.

Eric Dane's dedication to his craft remained strong even after his diagnosis. He had expressed his intention to continue working, looking forward to returning to Euphoria. Creator Sam Levinson adjusted the show's narrative to accommodate Dane's health, emphasizing their deep connection and Levinson's commitment to making it work. Dane is survived by his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters.
