A television adaptation of Julie K. Brown's New York Times bestseller, "Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story," is in development. The project will be a limited series, with Academy Award winner Laura Dern set to star and executive produce.
Sony Pictures Television is bringing this timely series to market, with Adam McKay's Hyperobject Industries producing. The event series promises an explosive account of an investigative reporter's exposure of a secret plea deal arranged between Jeffrey Epstein and federal prosecutors.
The narrative draws from Brown's extensive work for the Miami Herald. Her years-long investigation identified 80 victims and persuaded numerous survivors to share their stories publicly. This groundbreaking work directly contributed to the arrests of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Sharon Horgan has penned the script. She will also serve as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Eileen Myers. Executive producers also include Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, and Julie K. Brown. Brown, celebrated for her pursuit of the Epstein sex trafficking story, has received numerous accolades, including two George Polk Awards for Justice Reporting and recognition in Time magazine's 100 most influential people of 2020.
Past associations between Donald Trump and Epstein are also noted, with Trump facing scrutiny over their past ties, though he has not been charged in connection with Epstein.
