A forthcoming documentary, titled 'I Never Wrote Music for Films -- We All Love Ennio Morricone,' will delve into the life of the iconic composer Ennio Morricone.
The project is spearheaded by Luigi Caiola, Morricone's manager from 1997 to 2015, who organized over 250 global concerts and produced the Grammy-winning tribute album 'We All Love Ennio Morricone.' This film follows Giuseppe Tornatore's 2021 documentary 'Ennio.'
Directed by Massimo Privitera and co-directed by Daniele Ciprì, the documentary will feature fictional sketches, expert commentary, and never-before-seen archival footage. It aims to provide a 'first-hand' account of Morricone's work and humanity through testimonials from musicians who toured with him.
Filming is slated to begin in the summer of 2026 in various locations throughout Italy and Europe. The production is being handled by Marie Mariad Cinema and Yi Zhou's companies, Into the Sun Films and Colors of the Sun Ventures, with Colors of the Sun Ventures managing post-production and international distribution.
