In a highly anticipated move, Emmy winners Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor have been tapped to headline the Hulu drama series 'The Spot', set to premiere in 2026. The series, created by Ed Solomon, follows a successful surgeon (Danes) and her school teacher husband (McGregor) as they become embroiled in a web of suspicion and dark secrets after beginning to suspect the surgeon may be responsible for a child's hit-and-run death.
The project, which landed at Hulu in August 2024 with a straight-to-series order, was initially set to star Kate Winslet, but she departed the series in June for creative reasons. Danes was then approached to take over the lead role a couple of weeks later, kicking off months of negotiations before she officially joined the cast.
Alongside Danes and McGregor, the series will be executive produced by Solomon, who will also serve as showrunner, as well as Robin Sweet and Ariel Kleiman, who will direct. A24 is the lead studio, co-producing with Hulu sibling 20th Television.
