Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick recently experienced a painful eye injury, necessitating a visit to the hospital. The 50-year-old star, who plays Vanessa Woodfield, sought treatment at an A&E department for a scratched cornea. Hardwick shared her experience on social media, commending the National Health Service for its care during her visit. She is currently undergoing a five-day treatment course with antibiotic cream.

Corneal abrasions, or scratched eyes, are common injuries, according to opticians. Symptoms can include discomfort, redness, light sensitivity, and a gritty sensation. While minor scratches often heal naturally, medical attention is advised for any concerning symptoms. Causes range from airborne particles to dry eyes. This incident follows Hardwick's recent announcement of a new short film project titled 'Through The Eyes of Bairns,' where she will star alongside Coronation Street's Krissi Bohn.
