Emmerdale star Michael Parr and his fiancée Isabelle Du Plessis have shared details of their whirlwind romance, which began on the dating app Hinge in October 2023. Their connection, described as "kismet," spanned London, New York, and Paris before Isabelle moved to the UK by December 2023. The couple, who are now settled in Leeds with their seven-month-old daughter, Suzie, experienced a serendipitous meeting that they believe fate orchestrated.

Michael proposed during a safari trip in South Africa, inspired by elephants kissing at a watering hole. Isabelle, unaware of the impending proposal, initially resisted a romantic bushwalk. Michael, who had secretly sourced a two-and-a-half-carat diamond ring from Birmingham's jewellery quarter, proposed with a "cheesy line" that deeply moved Isabelle. This engagement follows a challenging period of parenthood, with their daughter Suzie's sleep issues requiring intervention from a sleep consultant.

Michael, who returned to Emmerdale in late 2024 after a stint in Los Angeles, reflects on his career and personal life. He found his time in LA isolating, especially during the 2020 lockdown, and missed home. Returning to the UK and the familiar community of Emmerdale felt right.
