Netflix has announced that Emily Henry's bestselling novels, "Funny Story" and "Happy Place," are set to be adapted into films.
This news comes shortly before the Friday release of "People We Meet on Vacation," which marks Henry's first adaptation on the streamer. Henry is actively involved in the "Funny Story" adaptation, writing the script herself, although no directors have been attached yet. The story centers on Daphne, who finds herself living with her ex-fiancé's childhood best friend, Petra's ex, Miles, after her engagement breaks off.
"Happy Place" will explore the story of Harriet and Wyn, a former couple who reunite for a summer trip with friends, pretending to still be together despite their broken engagement. The production of "Happy Place" is being handled by Nuyorican, with Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina involved. "Funny Story" is being produced by Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company.
