Summary
- Elli AvrRam overcame industry's perception of her based on appearance
- Portrayed diverse roles, from Bengali wife to Jessie in Malang
- OTT platforms helped showcase her range, leading to more opportunities

In the past few years, Elli AvrRam has established herself as a versatile actress, taking on a diverse range of roles in both films and OTT projects. However, the Swedish actor reveals that breaking out of the industry's perception of her was one of the biggest challenges in her early years.
Elli explains that people often assumed they already knew her based solely on her appearance, leading to her being typecast despite the variety of roles she had taken up. She had portrayed everything from a Bengali wife to Jessie in Malang, along with several Indian characters in her upcoming projects, yet she was still stereotyped for a long time.
The actress shares that there was a common assumption that she couldn't perform certain roles or speak Hindi fluently, but she has proven otherwise. Elli notes that the industry's perception of her took time to change, but the shift arrived thanks to the rise of OTT platforms, which opened doors for actors to explore new characters.
"OTT helped people see my range. Now, filmmakers and casting directors understand that I can transform myself and take on very different roles," Elli says. She feels recognized as the performer she always believed herself to be, with directors today being more open to exploring different shades with her.
Reflecting on her journey, Elli expresses her desire to take on more action-driven characters and deeper, more layered roles, as she believes there's a whole different side of her that she can bring to the screen. With her filmography showcasing her evolution, Elli is poised to continue breaking boundaries and redefining perceptions in the industry.
