The former site of Sheffield's legendary Leadmill will soon echo with new music as Electric Studios prepares for its grand opening in Spring 2026. Independent U.K. live music company Electric Group is investing £2 million to meticulously transform the venue, enhancing its interiors and expanding its capacity to accommodate up to 1,050 for live gigs and 1,450 for club events. This major undertaking aims to re-establish the space as a premier destination for live entertainment.
Complementing the upgraded performance spaces, Electric Studios will house a subsidised creative hub on its second and third floors. This dedicated area will provide emerging artists from the local Sheffield community with essential resources, including workspaces, rehearsal rooms, a communal area, and a kitchen. This initiative underscores a commitment to nurturing new talent and supporting the grassroots music scene within the city.
With a history of hosting iconic acts and a forward-thinking vision, Electric Studios is poised to become a cornerstone of Sheffield's cultural landscape. The refurbishment includes a brand-new PA system, advanced lighting, improved sightlines, and accessible facilities, all designed to elevate the experience for both artists and audiences. Electric Group is dedicated to a programme of substantial investment and curation, respecting the venue's storied past while building a dynamic future.
