Elaine Hendrix, known for her role in "The Parent Trap," has revealed the extensive and painful recovery regimen she underwent after sustaining a severe rib injury during "Dancing With the Stars" season 34 last fall. The actress detailed that doctors diagnosed her with a torn rib muscle, possibly detached from the bone, though thankfully no broken bones or internal organ damage occurred.
To continue competing, Hendrix received a staggering 16 anesthetic injections and multiple Toradol shots, a powerful pain reliever used by NFL athletes. This intensive pain management allowed her to push through the season, despite the injury forcing her to miss a week. Her arduous recovery also included massage therapy, acupuncture, cryotherapy, and physical therapy.
Hendrix also navigated a pre-existing foot injury during her time on the show, which involved a surgically inserted titanium plate. This condition complicated her ability to perform intricate dance steps. Despite these significant physical challenges, she and her partner, Alan Bersten, reached the finals, showcasing remarkable resilience and determination.
The actress emphasized that her recovery became a full-time commitment, mirroring the dedication required for dancing itself. She meticulously followed a regimen of regular doctor visits, hot and cold baths, a healthy diet, and ample sleep to facilitate healing. Other competitors on "Dancing With the Stars" season 35 have also faced injuries, highlighting the physically demanding nature of the show.
