- Ektaa Kapoor calls herself the 'queen of indulgence', not balance
- Names Guneet Monga, Rhea Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar as women shaping entertainment
- Criticizes entourage costs and actor tantrums as 'killing the movies'

As of September 28th, 2025, renowned Indian television producer Ektaa Kapoor has revealed that she no longer believes in the race for TRPs, a shift from her previous status as the 'TRP queen'. In an exclusive interview, Kapoor discussed the changing landscape of television and films, and the women who have inspired her.
Kapoor named Guneet Monga, Rhea Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, Deepika Padukone, and Kareena Kapoor Khan as the women who are rewriting the rules of the entertainment industry. She has collaborated with some of these women, including Monga on the National Award-winning film 'Kathal' and Rhea Kapoor on projects like 'Crew' and 'Thank You For Coming'.
The producer also shared her views on some of the most discussed topics in the industry today. She described the censor board as "much needed trouble" and defined entourage costs as something that's "killing the movies". Kapoor believes that neither television nor films are killing each other, but it's the high entourage costs and actor tantrums that are damaging the industry.
Interestingly, Kapoor acknowledged that she misses the urban audience's engagement with television, as the young have shifted their focus to digital platforms. However, she remains confident that television is not threatened by the rise of OTT or films.
On a personal note, Kapoor embraces her identity as the 'queen of indulgence', stating that she doesn't believe in balance, but rather in indulging her passions, creativity, and life. She is set to soon launch the seventh installment of her popular show 'Naagin' on Colors TV.
