The film 'Eetha', a biopic on the celebrated Tamasha dancer Vithabai Narayangaonkar, is set to release on August 28, starring Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie aims to showcase the life of the renowned folk artist who gained international acclaim.

However, the film's title, 'Eetha,' has become a point of contention. The NCP's Film and Cultural Department, along with members of Vithabai Narayangaonkar's family, have expressed dissatisfaction, suggesting that 'Vitha' or 'Vithabai' would be more fitting tributes. They emphasize Vithabai's significant role in preserving Maharashtra's cultural heritage.

The recently released teaser has captivated audiences with a dramatic portrayal of Vithabai's life, featuring her continued performance after giving birth backstage. This scene highlights her extraordinary dedication to her art form. Historical accounts suggest the performance was halted post-delivery for her recovery.

Filmed across various locations including Madh Island, Solapur, and Nashik, 'Eetha' also features Randeep Hooda and Mohammad Zeesha Ayyub. Despite the ongoing debate regarding the title, the filmmakers have maintained silence.
