Eddie the Eagle Soars Again: From Slopes to Stage!

Michael Edwards, widely recognized as Eddie the Eagle, is now gracing the stage, recently performing in a pantomime production of "Beauty and the Beast." This new chapter follows his celebrated, albeit last-place, finish in ski jumping at the 1988 Calgary Olympics.

Edwards' post-Olympic life has been a dynamic mix of activities, including singing, dancing on ice, and commercials. Despite the initial fame, he encountered financial difficulties, partly due to a trust fund mismanagement and a difficult divorce in 2016. However, the 2016 biopic "Eddie the Eagle," starring Taron Egerton, brought his story to a new generation and revived his public profile.

Now 62, Edwards earns a living through motivational speaking, sharing his experiences to inspire others. His stage role as Professor Crackpot in the pantomime "Beauty and the Beast" at Watersmeet Theatre showcases his enduring spirit, demonstrating that he continues to take leaps and land on his feet, much like he did during his brief, unforgettable athletic career.
