Filmmaker Brings Rock Icon Eddie Cochran Back to Life

Filmmaker Kirsty Bell has created "Eddie Cochran: Don't Forget Me," a documentary aiming to resurrect the spirit of the iconic American musician. The film, which is set to close the Raindance Film Festival, delves into Cochran's brief but impactful career.

Bell was inspired to connect with Cochran's legacy on an emotional level, noting his profound influence on subsequent generations of musicians. The documentary eschews a traditional approach, instead focusing on Cochran's enduring impact.

"Don't Forget Me" features an impressive lineup of artists and cultural figures who were either influenced by Cochran or knew him. Notable interviewees include Kiefer Sutherland, who was once slated to play Cochran in a biopic, as well as Keith Richards, Rod Stewart, and Yungblud.

To vividly portray Cochran's life, the film incorporates dramatic reconstructions, compensating for the scarcity of original video material. Access to hundreds of fan letters also provided a crucial element, offering intimate insights into his connection with his audience.

Securing the cooperation of Cochran's family was a significant hurdle, overcome with the assistance of entertainment lawyer Sindee Levin. The filmmaker expressed immense relief upon receiving their approval of the finished documentary.

"Don't Forget Me" will receive a posthumous Raindance Icon Award, which will be presented to Cochran's sister and niece. The award, alongside Cochran's memorabilia, is slated for display at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
