Comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg delivered a sharp joke during the opening monologue of SNL UK, comparing Ed Sheeran to a puppet whose strings are controlled by others. This comedic jab followed the recent controversy surrounding Sheeran's tour opener, Macklemore, who was removed after making pro-Palestine statements.
Sheeran had stated that the decision to remove Macklemore was made by the promoter, not himself. He later apologized to fans for the incident at a Philadelphia concert. Expressing his personal views, Sheeran described Israel's response to the October 7th massacre as 'unjustifiable' and 'disproportionate' after initially trying to remain silent on the matter.
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran's scheduled performances at Gillette Stadium this weekend were unexpectedly canceled. The cancellations were attributed to a significant nor'easter, preventing the concerts from proceeding as planned.
