A miniature artist in Berhampur has created eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesh using natural materials for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Satya Moharana, a local businessman, crafted these miniature figures, measuring between 4 cm and 4.5 cm in height, from turmeric, sandalwood powder, and sindoor.
Moharana stated his intention to promote environmentally conscious celebrations, encouraging people to avoid idols made with plaster of Paris, chemical dyes, and single-use plastics. He used a minimal amount of clay, with the coloring exclusively derived from natural sources.
These lightweight idols are designed to dissolve easily in water, offering a sustainable alternative for Ganesh Puja. Moharana, known for his miniature art on various deities and personalities, hopes to inspire a shift towards greener festival practices.
