Val Chmerkovskiy, a professional dancer on "Dancing With the Stars," has been suspended from the show's next live broadcast. This decision follows a controversial social media comment he made. The comment was perceived as inappropriate and did not align with the show's expected standards.
The controversy arose after judge Carrie Ann Inaba critiqued Chmerkovskiy's wife, Jenna Johnson. In response, Chmerkovskiy made a remark referencing the 2022 Oscars incident where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. This reference was widely condemned.
Chmerkovskiy later issued a public apology via his Instagram Story. He expressed deep regret for his careless post and offered his apologies directly to Carrie Ann Inaba and everyone affected. He acknowledged his role as a public figure and committed to being more mindful of his words in the future.
