Dwight + Nicole: Ready for Breakthrough with 'Day or Night'

The musical and life partners Nicole Nelson and Dwight Ritcher, performing as Dwight + Nicole, are set to release their latest album, "Day or Night," on March 20. This release marks a significant step for the duo, who gained initial recognition on "The Voice" in 2012. Nelson stated her firm stance against compromising artistic vision for fame, asserting, "We're making music for ourselves."

The couple, who have collaborated for over two decades, are working with a professional team including an agent, manager, and publicist to broaden their reach. "We want to give this thing its full legs," Ritcher commented, expressing a desire for the album to connect with new listeners. The album was recorded in Brooklyn with producer Joel Hamilton and features a blend of original tracks and covers, including a rendition of Yaz's 'Only You' and Jenny Lewis' 'Melt Your Heart.'

Dwight + Nicole will celebrate the album's release with a show at Higher Ground in South Burlington on March 20. Despite past experiences with unfavorable record deals, the band has consistently built their career independently. Ritcher expressed his enduring passion for music, comparing his current drive to that of his teenage years. Nelson shared her ambitious goal of performing on "Saturday Night Live," viewing preparation as key to seizing opportunities.
