Dune's Duncan Idaho: Back from the Dead?
18 Mar
Summary
- Duncan Idaho character returns despite apparent death in first film.
- Director Denis Villeneuve confirms character's revival is book-based.
- Dune: Part Three is slated for a December release, facing an Avengers movie.

Denis Villeneuve's successful adaptation of Dune continues with Dune: Part Three, bringing back a key character previously thought lost. Jason Momoa's portrayal of Duncan Idaho, who met his end in the first film, will reappear, much to the surprise of many, including Momoa himself.
Villeneuve clarified that this narrative choice aligns with Frank Herbert's literary sequels, Dune and Dune: Messiah. The director indicated that Herbert may have devised a way to resurrect the popular character due to his impact. The mechanism involves a form of cloning, where the revived Idaho initially lacks memories and uses a different name.
Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release in December. Notably, it is set to premiere on the same day as Avengers: Doomsday, potentially creating one of the biggest box office weekends in history.
