Duffer Brothers Dash Hopes of Eddie Munson's Stranger Things 5 Return

As fans eagerly await the final season of Stranger Things, set to debut on Netflix in November 2025, one burning question has been whether the beloved character Eddie Munson will make a return. Played by rising star Joseph Quinn, Eddie quickly became a fan favorite in Season 4 with his Metallica-fueled antics and tragic demise.

However, Duffer brother Matt Duffer has now officially dashed those hopes, explaining that Quinn's busy schedule makes it impossible for him to reprise the role. In the past three years since Stranger Things 4, the actor has starred in a whopping 5 new films, including blockbusters like the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot and the next Avengers movie.

With Quinn's star power continuing to rise, the Duffers have had to accept that there will be no Eddie Munson cameo in the show's final season. "He's just too busy," Matt Duffer told Empire magazine. Like the fate of fan-favorite Barb before him, it seems Eddie's death in the Upside Down will remain permanent in Stranger Things lore.

While disappointing for devoted Eddie fans, the Duffers' decision aligns with their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the show's narrative.
