Dua Lipa and Taron Egerton Engaged After Chance Bookstore Encounter

In a serendipitous encounter, pop star Dua Lipa, 30, and actor Taron Egerton, 35, met over drinks before a mutual friend's birthday party in Los Angeles last year. The two realized they were both reading the same book, "Trust" by Hernán Díaz, and immediately connected over their shared literary interest.

"It's like something out of a Hollywood blockbuster," Egerton told The Sunday Times. "In the movie version of it, I look up to the sky and I'm like, 'I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don't worry.'"

The chance meeting sparked a whirlwind romance between the two celebrities. Rumors of their relationship began circulating in January 2024, when they were spotted together after the Masters of the Air premiere in London. Things heated up later that month when the couple was seen sharing a kiss during a Los Angeles date night.

Lipa and Egerton went Instagram official at the 2025 Met Gala, and earlier this year, Lipa confirmed to British Vogue that the pair are engaged. "This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever - it's a really special feeling," she said.
