According to a report from October 2025, Graham Norton, the renowned Irish television presenter, has shared some behind-the-scenes stories about his experiences hosting celebrity guests on The Graham Norton Show. One particularly memorable incident occurred in 2013 when actor Mark Wahlberg appeared on the program alongside Sarah Silverman and Michael Fassbender.
Norton revealed that Wahlberg's behavior during the recording was "hell," as the actor seemed to have overindulged before the show. Wahlberg interrupted other guests, including Fassbender, who was in the middle of an anecdote, and at one point, the actor fell asleep on set. Norton said the other guests struggled to be heard over Wahlberg's antics.
Commenting on the chaotic appearance, Wahlberg later told Digital Spy in 2013 that he "tried to do a bit, and some people took it a little too seriously." However, Norton debunked the idea that guests are plied with alcohol by the show's producers, stating that the most a guest can have is "two, three tops."

In addition to the Wahlberg incident, Norton also shared his experience with another problematic guest - Harvey Weinstein. The shamed film producer was booked on the show in 2015 and was "very insistent" on appearing, according to Norton. The presenter said that in retrospect, Weinstein's persistence was "chilling."
Despite the challenges, it appears there were no lasting hard feelings between Wahlberg and The Graham Norton Show, as the actor has been booked by the program four times since 2013, with his most recent appearance coming in 2017.
