The much-anticipated OTT release of Drishyam 3's Telugu-dubbed version has been halted due to legal complications. The Madras High Court has issued an interim injunction, restraining the film's makers from releasing the Telugu version on streaming platforms. This decision came after Rajkumar Theatre Pvt Ltd, a film production company owned by filmmaker Sripriya, filed a petition contesting the release.
The Telugu dub was scheduled to be available on OTT platforms on June 18, 2026. However, Justice K Kumaresh Babu of the Madras High Court passed the restraining order, noting that the respondents had not appeared in court. The order explicitly prevents the exploitation of the applicant's copyrights through an OTT release.
Unlike its predecessors, the original Malayalam film Drishyam 3 was not remade in Telugu but opted for dubbing. Sripriya, who directed the first Telugu remake (Drushyam), claimed ownership of the Telugu rights, leading to the legal challenge. The original Drishyam franchise films have seen successful remakes in various languages, including Hindi and Tamil.
