Drishyam 3 vs Karakkam: A Double Dose of Cinema

Actress Shaun Romy believes the simultaneous theatrical releases of 'Drishyam 3' and her upcoming musical horror-comedy 'Karakkam' present a win-win scenario for Malayalam cinema audiences. She noted that 'Drishyam 3' offers an intense thriller, while 'Karakkam' promises supernatural entertainment with music and comedy.

Romy, who admires franchise star Mohanlal, expressed eagerness to watch 'Drishyam 3' due to its widespread acclaim. She described 'Karakkam' as a light-hearted film featuring a group of ghosts trying to return to the living world, with a distinct 80s musical and dance influence.

'Drishyam 3' has achieved significant box office success, grossing Rs 76.18 crore worldwide within two days. The film garnered Rs 26.90 crore net in India and Rs 45 crore overseas, with Kerala showing particularly strong performance. 'Karakkam' is set to release on May 28.

'Karakkam', directed by Nipin Narayanan, stars Shaun Romy as Rani Mariya alongside Sreenath Bhasi and Pravin. The film's music is composed by Sam C. S., and it is being promoted as Malayalam cinema's first musical horror-comedy.

Meanwhile, 'Drishyam 3', directed by Jeethu Joseph, saw a slight dip in collection on its second day, earning Rs 11.05 crore net in India. Despite this, its global box office performance remains robust, indicating sustained audience interest in the thriller franchise.
