Aastha Tiku's directorial debut, 'Dreamboat,' will have its world premiere at the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) from October 29 to November 1, 2026. The 24-minute fantasy comedy-drama stars Sofia Ashraf, Supriya Joshi, Tenzin Dalha, and Prayrak Mehta.
Written and directed by Tiku, the film centers on an underground musician whose unconventional relationship with her favorite pillow is interrupted by her mother. This event propels her into a surreal journey across Mumbai, where her friendships, desires, and sense of reality begin to transform.
The narrative introduces a unique element as the abandoned pillow takes on a life of its own. Tiku, who previously wrote for 'Sherni,' stated that the story originated from a dream and was shaped into a screenplay that blends relatable elements with dream logic.
National Award-winning filmmaker Amit Masurkar, known for 'Newton' and 'Sherni,' is producing the film alongside Tiku. Masurkar was drawn to 'Dreamboat's' unconventional premise and Tiku's visual approach, highlighting her use of pop culture and vibrant aesthetics.
Sofia Ashraf leads the cast in her acting debut, supported by comedian Supriya Joshi, and actors Tenzin Dalha and Prayrak Mehta. Tiku is currently developing her first feature film, slated for a 2027 production start.
